You're Not Behind
Can we talk about something that nobody in church wants to admit?
Comparison is destroying more Christians than almost any sin ever could.
Not drugs. Not alcohol. Not the stuff people usually list. It's the quiet scrolling through someone else's highlight reel and feeling like your faith isn't measuring up. It's hearing someone share their testimony and thinking "why hasn't God done that for me?" It's watching another believer post about their prayer life and wondering if yours even counts.
Here's the truth.
"Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else." - Galatians 6:4
Your walk with God is yours. Nobody else's.
The person who reads 10 chapters a day is not more loved by God than the person who sits with one verse for a week. The person who prays out loud with confidence is not closer to God than the person who whispers "help me" in their car before work. The person who seems to have it all together spiritually is probably fighting battles you know nothing about.
I used to compare my faith to everyone else's and it nearly killed my relationship with God. Not because God moved away from me, but because I was so busy looking at other people's journeys that I forgot I was on my own. I was running someone else's race and wondering why I felt exhausted.
God doesn't grade on a curve. He's not looking at your prayer life and then looking at your neighbour's prayer life and scoring you lower. He's looking at your heart.
And the fact that you're reading this right now tells me your heart is reaching for him. That's enough.
You're not behind. You're exactly where you need to be.
The only question that matters is: are you moving toward God, even slowly?
If the answer is yes, even if "slowly" means one verse a week and a whispered prayer in the car, you're doing better than you think.
Stop measuring your chapter one against someone else's chapter twenty. Your story isn't finished yet. And God has never once looked at you and thought "they're falling behind."
He looks at you and thinks "that's my child. And I'm proud of them."
YOUR ONE THING FOR TODAY
Unfollow, mute, or hide one account on social media that consistently makes you feel like your faith isn't enough. Just one. You can always go back.
But give yourself a week without that voice in your ear and see what happens to your peace.
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
God, forgive me for measuring my worth by other people's standards instead of yours. Help me to stop comparing my journey to everyone else's and start trusting that you're writing my story exactly the way it needs to be written. Remind me today that I'm not behind. I'm not too slow. I'm not too messy. I'm yours. And that's enough. Amen.
God bless you, my friend.
