It’s Sunday.

No teaching today. No deep dive. Just one verse from a Psalm David wrote when he was watching people around him succeed by all the wrong means, and his instinct was to grip, to fix, to control. He talks himself down with a sentence worth sitting with at the end of a week about surrender.

Rest with it.

*“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will act.” - Psalm 37:5*

Read it slowly. Three times.

Notice how short it is. Notice the sequence.

Commit. Trust. He will act.

Commit comes first. Not the feeling that comes before trust. Not the resolution of the situation. Commit. Deliberate. A deciding. A placing of what you have been carrying.

Then trust. Not before. After. Trust is the posture you take after you have committed. You cannot really trust what you have not yet handed over, because trust requires something to be held by someone other than you.

Then he will act. Not you. Him. His timing. His way. His means.

That’s the whole Psalm’s spine in one verse. And that’s the whole shape of surrender in one verse.

Rest with it today.

Whatever this week surfaced about the grip you did not know you had, whatever came up when you tried the open hand practice, whatever the hard truth of Friday exposed, whatever the Greek of yesterday clarified — put all of it down for today.

Just this. Commit. Trust. He will act.

That is enough for the whole week, condensed into eight words.

Tomorrow morning, when you wake up, the week starts fresh with a new theme. And whatever you took away from Surrender, whatever muscle got slightly stronger, carries forward into the rest of your life. Not as a system. As a settled posture.

You can rest from running your own life for one day. That is what Sabbath has always been for. The one day of the week that quietly reminds you God has been managing the universe perfectly well without your help.

Commit. Trust. He will act.

Rest in those words today.

**YOUR ONE THING FOR TODAY**

Read Psalm 37:5 out loud today. Slowly. Then say the first three words as your own. “Commit your way.”

That is enough for today. Nothing else is required.

**A PRAYER FOR TODAY**

Father, thank you for this week. Thank you that you have been patient with me as I have been learning to let things go. Today I commit my way to you. All of it. The things I named. The things I couldn’t name yet. The grip I’m still partially holding. I commit it. I trust you. And I rest. Amen.

God bless you, my friend.
